Mathematics Curriculum

The Mathematics curriculum seeks to develop both a sound foundation in and understanding of basic skills and operations as well as problem solving skills. Moving from a concrete understanding of concepts using manipulatives, students are encouraged to develop more abstract reasoning and understanding of mathematical concepts. Early kindergarten and kindergarten employ Math Their Way as the primary mathematics program. From first grade through sixth grade, the school uses the Everyday Mathematics program as the backbone for the mathematics program. Teachers use an array of supplemental materials to enrich the scope and sequence at all grade levels. Individual contracts are used to help students develop needed skills.
