Language Arts Curriculum

The Language Arts curriculum emphasizes the development of reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. From early kindergarten through eighth grade, the components of the program include individual and group reading, oral communication activities, spelling, grammar and vocabulary instruction, writer and reader workshops, researching skills and critical listening. At the early grades, a balanced curriculum of phonics instruction and whole language is used to develop students' reading. Students are taught the value of all forms of literature at all grade levels using high quality literature.
