As the world shrinks due to technology, commerce, the environment, and global politics, our children will face the advantages and challenges a smaller globe affords. They will need to know more about their planetary neighbors, an array of cultures, histories, and current perspectives in order to succeed in a world made smaller by inevitable progress. Montclair Academy’s curriculum has always been committed to a diverse and multicultural program and our global citizenship initiative is a continuation of that longtime tradition. Beyond the time-honored scope and sequence of Language Arts, Mathematics, Arts, and Sciences, we have designed strands which include age-appropriate studies of community and communication; culture - including faith, art, tradition, and social issues; commerce and economics; sources of conflict; use and the ethical development of natural resources; and the impact of technology on human history. Our purpose is to prepare our graduates for high school and their place in the world they will inherit. |
